Argentina issues arrest warrant for Iran’s Vahidi over 1994 AMIA bombing linked to Hezbollah and Iran.
Argentina has issued a new arrest warrant for Ahmad Vahidi, now head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, over his alleged role in the 1994 AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people.
The attack, carried out by Hezbollah under Iranian direction, has been linked to Vahidi’s prior leadership of the IRGC’s Quds Force.
Argentina, under President Javier Milei, has reopened the investigation, seeking charges against 10 additional Iranian and Lebanese suspects, including senior aide Ali Asghar Hejazi, and pursuing trials in absentia.
The move follows a 2024 ruling attributing the bombing to Iran and Hezbollah, amid renewed regional tensions and U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
