A 21-year-old pregnant woman, Deimante Ziobryte, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a February 1, 2025, collision in Pitsea, Essex, that killed two children, 16-year-old Roman Casselden and his 9-year-old sister Darcie, while they rode an e-scooter. She admitted swerving but making contact, then driving away without calling emergency services or returning to the scene, instead contacting family members. CCTV captured the incident, and prosecutors confirmed no additional charges, including dangerous driving, would be filed. Ziobryte, who was granted bail until her May 6, 2026, sentencing, faces up to 26 weeks in prison and has been disqualified from driving. The children’s mother honored their memory, and inquests confirmed both died from head injuries.
