U.S. and Ecuador destroyed an 115-foot narco-sub near Colombia with weapons and fuel, in a joint anti-drug raid.

Ecuador and the U.S. have jointly dismantled a large narco-submersible in a remote mangrove reserve near the Colombian border, part of an intensified campaign against drug trafficking. The 115-foot vessel, found fueled and ready for a long voyage, was accompanied by a clandestine camp, speedboats, fuel, and weapons. Military forces were fired upon during the raid but reported no casualties. The operation marks a key step in Ecuador’s broader effort to disrupt cartels using its territory as a transit route for cocaine bound for the U.S., Europe, and Australia. U.S. Southern Command confirmed ongoing cooperation with Ecuador, while the U.S. continues its own anti-drug campaign, Operation Southern Spear, which has involved strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific resulting in over 150 deaths.
