Sarnia’s 13th annual Canstruction event returns March 5 at Lambton Mall, where 10 teams will build toy-themed structures using canned and boxed food to support the Inn of the Good Shepherd’s food bank and soup kitchen.
The public can view the displays, vote for the People’s Choice Award by donating, and participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes during March break.
Judging will determine winners in several categories, with awards announced March 6.
Last year’s event collected about 14,000 kg of food and $26,000.
The Inn reports rising demand, serving 2,300 meals last month and supporting 2,000 people monthly, including 900 children, despite declining donations.
