Ranju Darshana Neupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party won Nepal’s 2026 parliamentary election in Kathmandu Constituency No. 1 with 15,455 votes, more than double her nearest rival. She becomes the first winner declared in the nationwide vote, marking her second attempt after a 2022 loss. The RSP emerged as the top party, winning 77 seats. Voter turnout was about 60%, with 26 candidates forfeiting deposits for failing to reach the 10% threshold. Neupane, a 30-year-old with a background in political science and mental health advocacy, previously ran for Kathmandu mayor in 2017 and joined the RSP after her former party merged with it.
