Pakistan's government approved billions in funding for rural gas, flood relief, power reforms, and education, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The Economic Coordination Committee approved a Rs3 billion grant for gas connections in villages near gas fields, Rs200 million to settle teacher salaries, Rs3.63 billion for monsoon flood response and aid, and Rs1.3 billion for power sector SDG initiatives.
It endorsed power sector reforms to cut generation costs, reduce circular debt, and stabilize tariffs through negotiated settlements.
Additional approvals included Rs13.1 million for the International Energy Forum and a $4 million relending exemption for the Higher Education Commission.
The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
