Iran's consul in Mumbai says it's united after Supreme Leader's death, blames U.S. for attack killing over 100, and calls for India to help its citizens leave.
Iran’s Consul General in Mumbai, Saeid Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, stated on March 6, 2026, that Iran remains united and determined to defend its sovereignty following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He condemned a recent maritime attack on an Iranian vessel returning from a military exercise in India, claiming over 100 Iranian personnel were killed, and attributed the strike to the United States.
Motlagh emphasized that leadership succession will follow institutional procedures via the Assembly of Experts, elected by the people, and dismissed claims of instability.
He highlighted widespread public support, citing nightly demonstrations, criticized U.S. sanctions—especially those affecting pharmaceuticals—as inhumane, and urged India to assist Indian nationals in Iran to leave if needed.
El cónsul de Irán en Mumbai dice que está unido después de la muerte del Líder Supremo, culpa a Estados Unidos por el ataque que mató a más de 100, y pide a la India que ayude a sus ciudadanos a irse.
