Lindsey Halligan, former interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, is under investigation by the Florida Bar over allegations of professional misconduct tied to her handling of high-profile cases against James Comey and Letitia James. The probe follows a federal judge’s November 2025 ruling that her appointment violated the Appointments Clause, leading to the dismissal of the cases. Despite the ruling, Halligan continued using the title “U.S. Attorney,” prompting a court order barring her from doing so. The Florida Bar confirmed the investigation after complaints from the Campaign for Accountability, while the Virginia Bar declined to act. The Justice Department has appealed the dismissal but has not sought to halt the order. Halligan has not commented.
