A Dublin doctor was found guilty of falsifying insurance claims and prescribing unsafe hormone treatments, practicing without proper insurance for years.
A Dublin general practitioner, Chasib Al-Maliky, has been found guilty of professional misconduct for submitting false insurance documents and falsely claiming coverage between 2015 and 2023, practicing without required indemnity insurance for over four and a half years.
The Medical Council’s fitness-to-practise committee also found him guilty of prescribing oestrogen without progesterone to five patients, a clinically inappropriate practice increasing cancer risk.
No physical harm was reported, but the conduct was deemed dishonest and below professional standards.
Al-Maliky did not attend the hearings, with his counsel citing illness and treatment in the UK.
The committee will recommend a sanction to the Medical Council, though the penalty will not be disclosed.
