Daniel Bliss, 63, of Bemidji, faces two felony charges for allegedly stealing nearly $13,000 from his 90-year-old relative with Alzheimer’s disease, using the money for personal expenses including utilities, credit card payments, food, a generator, and transfers to his ex-wife.
The case emerged in July 2025 when assisted living staff reported the woman was $50,000 behind on bills.
Bliss, who managed her finances, admitted to the misuse.
The charges, which carry up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines per count, are pending in Beltrami County District Court.
