British Columbia teachers have ratified a new four-year collective agreement, with 91% approval from members, securing a 3% annual wage increase—12% total—effective retroactively from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029.
The deal, covering about 52,000 educators, includes expanded staffing for counsellors, learning assistance, and special education teachers, increased prep time for elementary teachers, and special allowances for psychologists, Indigenous language teachers, and those in rural and remote areas.
The agreement aims to improve working conditions and support teacher retention, though final ratification depends on approval by the BC Public School Employers’ Association.
