ACEN Corp. plans to build a P15.88 billion, 2,000-megawatt-hour battery storage system at its San Marcelino Solar Project in Zambales, Philippines, to stabilize power supply and support grid reliability.
The system, to be integrated on the existing 10-hectare site without expanding land use or solar capacity, will begin construction in Q3 2026 and target completion by end of 2027, with commercial operation expected by early 2028.
The project requires environmental clearance and involves amending the existing environmental compliance certificate.
Currently, 385 MW of the 585-MW solar plant is operational, with 200 MW under construction and set to come online by Q3 2027.
