Two dogs, Skittles and Joey, have been shortlisted for the Royal Kennel Club’s Hero Dog Award at Crufts 2026.
Skittles, a rescue Jack Russell cross from Kilmarnock, helps children with autism, supports adults recovering from domestic violence, and aids her trainer Maggie McNamara, who has autism and PTSD.
Joey, a working cocker spaniel from Northwich, helped his owner Ciara Mason recover from grief, injury, and depression, enabling her to regain her health, return to work, and train in agility.
Both dogs are finalists in the public vote, with results announced during Crufts, running March 5–8 at the NEC Birmingham.
