Toronto Public Health warns of a potential measles exposure at Pearson International Airport on February 22, between 1:40 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. in Terminal 1, linked to a confirmed case involving two Avianca flights from Guatemala City to San Salvador and then to Toronto.
Additional exposures are reported in York Region from February 23 to 28 involving public transit and a hospital emergency department.
Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, rash, and mouth spots.
Individuals who were present during these times and are unvaccinated are urged to check their MMR vaccination status and monitor for symptoms until March 15.
Measles is highly contagious and preventable through two doses of the MMR vaccine.
