Telangana forms a committee to plan the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu, aiming to accommodate 200,000 daily pilgrims with improved infrastructure and central government funding.
The Telangana government has created a nine-member Cabinet Sub-Committee to plan the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu, a major religious event beginning July 23, 2027. Headed by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and chaired by the Principal Secretary to Government, Revenue (Endowments), the panel will recommend long-term infrastructure improvements at key temple sites along the Godavari River, including Basara, Kaleshwaram, Dharmapuri, and Bhadrachalam. The state aims to handle over 200,000 daily pilgrims with permanent ghats, better roads, traffic control, water supply, and accommodations. Officials are also seeking a special financial package from the central government, with MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from river-adjacent areas to be invited as needed.
