Sir Michael Morpurgo champions storytelling to boost children's reading, launching a reissued myth collection with a UK train station sculpture trail.
Sir Michael Morpurgo, 82, and former children’s laureate, says children learn best through immersive storytelling, urging early and consistent reading to build imagination and lifelong literacy.
Speaking at the launch of *The Line To Legend Land*, a reissued collection of 11 South West and Welsh myths including his new story *The Miracle Dolphin Of Mevagissey*, he rejected blaming smartphones for declining reading, instead calling on parents and teachers to inspire enthusiasm.
The project, marking 100 years since the original legends were compiled, is partnered with Great Western Railway, which will display five life-sized statues of mythical figures on a traveling sculpture trail across UK train stations.
