The Buffalo Sabres are finalizing a trade to acquire defenseman Colton Parayko from the St. Louis Blues, pending Parayko’s approval due to his no-trade clause. The deal would send prospect Radim Mrtka and a first-round pick to St. Louis. Parayko, a 32-year-old shutdown defenseman and 2019 Stanley Cup champion, has 14 points and leads the NHL with 141 blocked shots in 58 games this season. He carries a $6.5 million cap hit through 2029-30. The Sabres, second in the Atlantic Division, are aiming to end a 14-year playoff drought, while the Blues, struggling near the bottom of the standings, are rebuilding. The trade deadline is Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
