The Rockefeller Foundation is expanding its Mission 300 Fellowship Program to at least 18 African countries to help connect 300 million people to electricity by 2030, supporting World Bank and African Development Bank goals.
Thirteen fellows are already assisting national energy agencies in countries including Burundi, Liberia, and Senegal, with four more joining and additional nations expected.
The program, launched in 2025, aims to reduce delays, improve coordination, and boost clean energy access, with over 600 million Africans still lacking reliable power.
A new $10 million pledge will strengthen implementation, particularly in Malawi and Liberia, while the Mission 300 Accelerator supports capacity building in Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Senegal.
So far, about 44 million people have gained electricity access through the initiative.
