Matthew Laiss convicted of voting twice in 2020 election; faces up to 10 years in prison.
A federal jury in Philadelphia convicted Matthew Laiss, 32, of voting twice in the 2020 presidential election, having cast a mail-in ballot in Pennsylvania and an in-person vote in Florida after moving to Florida in 2020.
He claimed a 2025 presidential pardon applied to him, but prosecutors and a federal judge rejected that argument, stating the pardon’s scope could not be determined without a formal application.
Laiss faces up to five years in prison on each of two counts—voting more than once and voter fraud—and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 10, 2026.
The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice.
