Laos has launched its 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026–2030), focusing on sustainable development, regional integration, and poverty reduction.
Key goals include raising school enrollment, keeping lower secondary dropout rates below 8%, producing 50,000 vocational graduates, reducing child mortality and malnutrition, training 650,000 workers, and placing 411,000 in jobs.
The plan aims to lift over 100,000 families out of poverty, reduce the national poverty rate to single digits, increase forest cover to 70%, and boost greenhouse gas absorption by 60%.
It also promotes cultural heritage through UNESCO nominations and upgrades highways along ASEAN corridors to international standards to improve connectivity.
