Janisse Quiñones is leaving her role as CEO and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) effective March 27, 2026, to lead Puerto Rico’s electric grid modernization efforts.
She joined LADWP in May 2024, succeeding Martin Adams, and was credited with advancing system resilience and emergency preparedness amid wildfires and climate challenges.
Her departure follows scrutiny over water pressure issues during the Palisades Fire, linked to the Santa Ynez Reservoir’s emptying for repairs.
The city has not yet named an interim or permanent replacement.
