India's Supreme Court ordered a Gujarat man to pay his wife ₹25,000 monthly for child support after he ignored past orders and cut off contact with their daughter for four years.
The Indian Supreme Court ordered a Gujarat man’s employer to deduct ₹25,000 monthly from his salary and transfer it directly to his estranged wife’s account to support her and their four-year-old daughter.
The decision followed the husband’s failure to pay maintenance since 2022, despite court orders, and his refusal to settle arrears of ₹1.38 lakh or pay a lump sum of ₹2.5 lakh.
The court highlighted his lack of contact with the child for four years and the mother’s sole responsibility for the child’s care, noting she lives with her uncle after her father’s death.
The order, issued amid ongoing mediation efforts, aims to ensure financial support and child welfare, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for April 21.
