His explosive innings, which included a 303.03 strike rate and just four dot balls, secured a nine-wicket victory in 12.5 overs, marking the highest score in a T20 World Cup knockout match and the joint-fastest century against a Test-playing nation in T20Is.
Allen became the third New Zealand player to score a T20 World Cup century, joining Brendon McCullum and Glenn Phillips.
Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar praised the performance, saying it ended the game before fans could settle in.
New Zealand advanced to the final, set for Sunday in Ahmedabad.
