A 2026 BC inquiry re-examines Myles Gray’s 2015 death after a Vancouver police encounter, with paramedics describing severe injuries resembling a hanging.
A 2026 hearing by B.C.’s Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner is re-examining the 2015 death of Myles Gray, a man who died after a Vancouver police altercation.
Paramedics testified that Gray’s injuries—including facial trauma, bruising, bulging eyes, and a crushed voice box—appeared “like a hanging” and were “visually disturbing.” One paramedic acknowledged later reporting neck bruising and described needing unusual neck pressure during CPR as a “red flag.” Gray had a fractured eye socket, ruptured testicles, and unusually dark blood, possibly indicating oxygen deprivation.
Officers involved were cleared of misconduct in 2024, but the inquiry is assessing their conduct amid ongoing scrutiny of police use of force and medical response.
