Arkansas proposes $6.88B 2026-27 budget with education boosts, pay raises, and tax cuts.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has proposed a 3% increase in the 2026-27 state budget, totaling $6.88 billion, with $122 million for the Education Freedom Account program and $379 million for the Arkansas LEARNS voucher initiative, more than doubling prior funding.
The plan includes $53.4 million for state employee pay raises, primarily for corrections officers and troopers, and supports higher education, drug enforcement, SNAP accuracy improvements, and a faith-based employment program.
The budget aims to maintain fiscal balance while pursuing additional income tax cuts.
The full proposal will be reviewed by the Arkansas General Assembly starting April 8, 2026, following the release of the Joint Budget Committee’s report.
