A 20-year-old man accused of killing a 36-year-old Labor strategist in Perth was granted bail with strict conditions.
A 20-year-old man, Brodie Jake Dewar, accused of fatally assaulting 36-year-old Labor strategist Tim Picton in Perth on December 27, has been granted bail with strict conditions, including a curfew, residence with parents, passport surrender, and bans on alcohol, drugs, and licensed premises. Picton died weeks after a fall during an alleged attack following repeated unwanted advances toward Dewar’s 18-year-old cousin, which witnesses said continued after the man was ejected from a nightclub. CCTV footage showed Picton, with his hand in his pocket and not acting aggressively, lighting a cigarette before being struck. The charge was upgraded from grievous bodily harm to manslaughter after his death. Dewar is expected to be released and will reappear in court on February 18.
