Vancouver police are investigating a series of break-ins where suspects used hot glue on apartment doors to test occupancy. Between August and December, 10 units in six buildings—five in Vancouver and one in Burnaby—were targeted. Thieves applied glue to the top corner of doors; if intact when they returned, they broke in, indicating the unit was unoccupied. The method was used on older buildings with weak security. Similar tactics have been reported in Ontario and Alberta. Police urge the public to report suspicious activity and are continuing their investigation.
