Tripura has launched a solar initiative installing rooftop plants at eight district magistrate offices, starting with a 15-kilowatt system at the Gomati DM office on March 27, 2026.
The project, part of the national PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, will add 304 kilowatts of solar capacity across the state at an estimated cost of ₹2.43 crore.
The first plant, costing ₹8.5 lakh, is grid-connected and aims to reduce electricity bills and ensure reliable 24/7 power.
Installations will cover seven additional districts, supporting green governance and renewable energy goals.
