Timmins Public Library now offers digital access to 27 years of The Daily Press and the Timmins Times, ending January 2026.
The Timmins Public Library has made 27 years of The Daily Press, from May 4, 1999, to the present, available digitally through Canadian Newsstream, a text-only online database supported by Postmedia.
Users can now search articles by keyword, improving access for researchers, genealogists, and the public.
The archive excludes some obituaries and photos, which remain on microfilm dating back to 1933.
The Timmins Times, which stopped publication in January 2026, is also included.
Remote access is available to library cardholders, and the platform offers other northern Ontario newspapers.
Officials view the launch as a major step toward a full digital archive.
