Teachers union seeks government pay dispute resolution after rejecting 2026–2027 offer.
The Primary Teachers' Union has asked the Employment Relations Authority to intervene after failed pay talks with the Education Ministry.
The union rejected the government's latest offer—featuring a 2.5% raise in January 2026 and 2.1% in 2027—calling it insufficient, especially amid rapid curriculum changes and rising workloads.
Union leaders say the offer doesn’t reflect member expectations, while the Public Service Commissioner noted teachers, particularly those with management units, are missing out on up to $76 weekly in pay.
The Ministry maintains the package is fair and sustainable, urging reconsideration.
The ERA’s involvement may help break the deadlock.
