Africa’s Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) secured $88 million in 2025, up from $54.3 million in 2024, mainly from EU donors including Germany and Italy, despite a slight drop in approved projects from 14 to 13.
Total approved project funding remained stable at about $97 million, with support for green baseload energy, mini-grids, and emerging areas like green hydrogen and clean cooking.
SEFA aims to more than double its financing to $2.5 billion in two years and mobilize $10 billion in commercial capital by 2030, backed by innovative financial tools and partnerships.
