On March 4, 2026, Pope Leo XIV appointed Fr.
Sean Mejia, a native of Tabuk City and former temporary administrator, as the new apostolic vicar of the Philippines’ Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk, succeeding Bishop Prudencio Andaya Jr., who was transferred in February 2025.
Mejia, ordained in 1999 and holding a licentiate in canon law, will lead a mission territory established in 1992 with 22 parishes and mission stations served by 25 priests.
His appointment fills a leadership vacancy and marks his role as the third apostolic vicar since the vicariate’s founding.
