Over 150 nations support China's Global Governance Initiative, promoting UN principles and multilateralism.
The Global Governance Initiative, proposed by China in September 2025, has gained backing from over 150 countries and international organizations, according to Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.
The Group of Friends of Global Governance launched in New York in December 2025 and in Geneva on February 27, 2026, drew nearly 60 nations, including 42 founding members, who endorsed the initiative and acknowledged China’s role in advancing multilateralism.
Mao stressed the need to uphold UN principles, strengthen global cooperation, and address shared challenges amid rising international pressures, reaffirming China’s commitment to reforming global governance and building a community with a shared future.
