Nigerian and British authorities arrested fugitive drug kingpin Uzoma Ilomuanya in Lagos after a major operation uncovered 78kg of meth and equipment.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Uzoma Valentine Ilomuanya, a 58-year-old fugitive drug kingpin wanted by Nigerian and British authorities for over 15 years, in Lagos on February 23, 2026.
The arrest followed a high-stakes operation that uncovered 77.96 kilograms of methamphetamine and drug production equipment.
Ilomuanya, previously convicted in the UK in 2003 and arrested again in 2011, had fled after skipping bail and was believed to have operated from residences in Imo and Lagos states.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa called the arrest a major victory, highlighting intelligence-driven efforts and international cooperation in combating transnational drug trafficking.
