Matt Dunlap qualified for Maine’s Democratic congressional primary after gathering nearly 1,200 valid signatures.
Democratic candidate Matt Dunlap, Maine’s current State Auditor, has qualified for the Democratic primary in the Second Congressional District by submitting nearly 1,200 valid signatures, following incumbent Jared Golden’s decision not to run for re-election.
Dunlap, one of several Democrats in the race, cited strong community support despite winter challenges.
Meanwhile, Republican gubernatorial candidate David Jones has also qualified by submitting over 2,000 valid signatures from all 16 counties, pledging to eliminate property taxes on primary homes and cut $2 billion in state spending.
Other developments include a $6 million economic boost from the Maine Mariners in Portland, a midwife pleading guilty to destroying 2,600 vaccines, and a new Aldi store set to open on March 26.
