Lepas, a new Chinese vehicle brand from Chery, has launched in South Africa with the L4 compact SUV, priced from R299,900. Available in Amur, Javan, and Pantera trims, it features a 1.5L naturally aspirated or turbocharged engine, front-wheel drive, and a minimalist, screen-heavy interior with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety and driver aids are standard on higher trims, including adaptive cruise control and a 540° camera. The L4 offers a 10-year engine warranty and strong fuel economy, averaging 7.5L/100km. It competes with models like the Tiggo 4 Pro and Corolla Cross, with the L6 and L8 expected later in 2026.
