Israel’s attorney general urges Supreme Court to force Netanyahu to fire security minister over alleged police interference.
In March 2026, Israel’s Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara urged the Supreme Court to order Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, citing evidence of improper interference in police operations that undermines democratic principles and the rule of law.
She argued that Ben-Gvir’s actions threaten the independence of law enforcement and that the court must act if Netanyahu fails to justify his inaction.
The High Court had previously issued a conditional order requiring an explanation, and the case is now before a nine-judge panel, with a hearing scheduled for March 24.
Ben-Gvir rejected the move as a political attack during wartime, while other ministers warned against judicial intervention in national security matters.
