India will deliver earthquake relief technical equipment to Myanmar next month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced during the inauguration of the India-assisted Sarsobeikman Literary Centre in Yangon.
He highlighted India’s role as a "first responder" in crises, including the 2025 Mandalay earthquake, where it deployed nearly 1,000 tonnes of aid, an 80-member search-and-rescue team, and a field hospital treating over 2,500 patients.
Ongoing support includes a Jaipur Foot limb fitment camp benefiting over 650 people.
The literary centre aims to preserve Myanmar’s classical and folk literature, reflecting India’s people-centric development approach and deepening bilateral ties under its Neighbourhood First and Act East policies.
