Carl McGuinness, 30, was sentenced to nine years in prison for a series of car thefts, dangerous driving, and attempted robbery in Dublin between August 2024 and May 2025.
He stole multiple vehicles, including a tourist’s Audi and a €5,000 Ducati, driving them recklessly, crashing into buses and vans, and fleeing police.
McGuinness, with 106 prior convictions—95 for traffic offenses—was on bail and had a bench warrant when he committed his final offense.
Judge Martina Baxter cited his repeated disregard for public safety, imposed a 10-year sentence backdated to May 2025 with the final year suspended for rehabilitation, and banned him from driving for a decade.
He was also found with crack cocaine during one arrest.
