Brad Brookshire, 49-year veteran and former CEO of Brookshire Grocery, has retired after expanding the company to 222 stores and receiving top industry honors.
Brad Brookshire, grandson of Brookshire Grocery Company founder W.T.
Brookshire, has retired after 49 years of service, concluding a career that included 10 years as CEO and 20 as chairman.
Under his leadership, the company expanded from 152 to 222 stores across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, employing over 17,000 people.
He received the industry’s highest honor, the Sidney R. Rabb Award in 2024, and was recognized with induction into the Food Industry Hall of Fame and appointment to Governor Greg Abbott’s Strike Force to Open Texas.
Jerry LeClair, who joined in 2019 as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, will become the new CEO.
A retirement celebration is planned for spring.
