Afghanistan launches month-long tree-planting campaign to restore ecosystems and combat deforestation.
Afghanistan has launched a one-month national tree-planting campaign to restore ecosystems damaged by decades of conflict, aiming to plant 19 million saplings nationwide.
The initiative, led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, urges every citizen to plant at least one sapling to combat deforestation, reduce vulnerability to floods and storms, and improve air quality and water resources.
The government has already planted over 100 million saplings in the past four years, with recent efforts including reforestation of 14,000 hectares and restoration of 1,100 hectares with fruit trees.
