A 20-year-old woman died in a 2017 crash during a street race at nearly 90mph in Wales; her boyfriend, charged with causing her death, faces trial.
A 20-year-old woman, Sophie Brimble, died in a high-speed crash in Brynmawr, Wales, on July 26, 2017, after her boyfriend, Jay Bayliss, allegedly engaged in a dangerous street race at nearly 90mph in a 30mph zone.
Prosecutors say Bayliss lost control while navigating a curve, causing the car to hit a lamppost.
Brimble died at the scene, and Bayliss, who sustained life-changing injuries, was initially deemed unfit to stand trial.
Now, a jury at Cardiff Crown Court is deciding whether his actions caused her death, as he faces charges for causing her death and serious injury to himself through dangerous driving.
The trial continues.
