Two men, Brandon Green, 36, and Labaron Washington, 37, of Orangeburg County, were arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. during a traffic stop on Bamburg Road, where a passenger fired at the officer before a pursuit ended on John C. Calhoun Drive. The trooper was unharmed. Washington also faces an additional charge of possessing a weapon during a violent crime. Both men were denied bond and are held at the Orangeburg County Jail. In a separate incident, a suspect wanted for attempted murder died in a Charleston County patrol vehicle after a medical emergency during transport; the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has requested an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division and the county coroner.
