Two Nigerian men sentenced to 40 years for making and selling dangerous fake alcohol.
A Lagos Federal High Court has sentenced Otuorimuno Nelson Aziakpono, 58, and Ikegwuonu Davidson Ikechukwu, 28, to a combined 40 years in prison for producing and distributing counterfeit, unregistered, and adulterated alcoholic beverages.
The conviction followed a December 3, 2025, NAFDAC operation at Kojo Street in Ijanikin and Vespa Market, where authorities seized fake versions of Hennessy, Jameson Irish Whiskey, William Lawson’s, and Gordon’s Gin.
The drinks were deemed unsafe, misleadingly packaged, and harmful.
The men were charged with eight counts under Nigerian food and drug laws.
NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to public health, warning of the dangers of fake alcohol and urging the public to report suspicious products.
