Tomas Cypas denies killing Juris Kokenbergs, 49, in 2024, claiming self-defense after a threat to rape his mother.
Tomas Cypas, 35, of Lucan, Co Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to the 2024 murder of Juris Kokenbergs, 49, at Old Bridge Park.
A state pathologist testified that Kokenbergs died from severe blunt force head injuries, including brain hemorrhage, swelling, and axonal damage, likely from punching alone, with no skull fractures.
Extensive bruising, defensive hand injuries, and DNA from Kokenbergs on Cypas’s shoes were presented.
Cypas admitted striking Kokenbergs multiple times, claiming self-defense after a threat to rape his mother.
A 999 call showed Cypas believed Kokenbergs was dead.
The pathologist said immediate medical care likely wouldn’t have saved him.
The trial continues.
