Sixteen PDP lawmakers in Osun State switched to the Accord Party, backing Governor Adeleke’s 2026 re-election bid amid party divisions.
Six Osun State members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives and 25 state assembly members have defected from the PDP to the Accord Party, aligning with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who joined Accord in December 2025.
The switch, announced in Osogbo, follows internal PDP divisions, with some leaders supporting Adeleke’s re-election bid under the new party while others dispute the legitimacy of the move.
The defectors, led by Clement Akanni, project a landslide win for Adeleke in the August 15, 2026, gubernatorial election and called for vigilant election monitoring.
The shift marks a significant realignment in Osun State’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dieciséis legisladores del PDP en el estado de Osun pasaron al Partido del Acuerdo, respaldando la candidatura de reelección del gobernador Adeleke en 2026 en medio de divisiones en el partido.
