Rochester Mayor Kim Norton, the city’s first female mayor, announced she will not seek a third term after nearly 26 years in public office.
She cited the right time to welcome new leadership and plans to focus on family, travel, and supporting Rochester’s growth.
Norton highlighted over $100 million in infrastructure and park investments, including upgrades to Cascade Lake and the Amelia Witherstine historic site, and credited partnerships with national organizations for advancing the city’s reputation as “America’s City for Health.” She emphasized inclusive, professional leadership and open communication throughout her tenure.
The 2026 mayoral race filing period begins May 19.
