Ontario athletes make up Canada’s largest Paralympic contingent for the 2026 Games in Milan Cortina.
Twenty-three Ontario athletes make up the largest provincial contingent on Canada’s 50-member team for the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina, beginning March 6 with an opening ceremony in Verona broadcast on CBC and CBC Gem at 1:50 p.m. eastern time, featuring American Sign Language.
Flag bearers Tyler McGregor of Forest, Ont., captain of the Para ice hockey team, and Natalie Wilkie of Salmon Arm, B.C., a seven-time Paralympic medallist and reigning Para biathlon Crystal Globe winner, will lead the team.
Though the ceremony is not held at competition sites, athletes will be celebrated in their respective villages.
Canada’s Para ice hockey team opens play March 7 against Slovakia at 2:35 p.m. eastern time, while Wilkie competes in the biathlon sprint the same day.
The team will compete in seven sports: Para alpine skiing, Para ice hockey, Para nordic skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling.
