Deputy Commissioner Mosikili says she was shocked by a 2024 directive to disband the PKTT, calling it unauthorized and poorly timed.
Deputy National Commissioner Tebello Mosikili testified before a parliamentary committee that she was confused and surprised by a December 31, 2024, directive from suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu to disband the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), which she said was not discussed in prior meetings and arrived via email on January 2, 2026.
She questioned the directive’s authenticity due to its tone and timing, noting it was sent hours before national commissioner Fannie Masemola’s leave began and had already been leaked to media.
Mosikili emphasized the complexity of dissolving such a task team, requiring formal plans for case continuity, personnel management, and logistical support, and stated no such plan was in place.
The committee is investigating allegations of corruption and poor decision-making within South Africa’s police leadership.
La Comisionada Adjunta Mosikili dice que se sorprendió por una directiva de 2024 para disolver el PKTT, calificándolo de no autorizado y mal cronometrado.
