Benue State has begun resettling displaced families from Yelewata following a June 2025 attack that killed over 100 people, using N1.275 billion in donations from the First Lady, Nasarawa State, United Bank for Africa, and the DSS Director-General.
The funds, managed by a state-appointed technical committee, support food, health, shelter, education, water, and livelihoods for all violence victims, not just Yelewata residents.
Construction of 60 homes is underway, with 45 started, including 38 two-bedroom units.
Cash transfers, nutrition programs, WASH initiatives, and education projects are being implemented, along with a new clinic under construction by UNHCR.
